| The Hakone Marathon Relay Race is a national event of the new year. There are three monuments commemorating the start and end point of the marathon route: the "Tokyo Hakone Marathon Relay Race Commemorative Monument" (1961), the "Plaque in Honor of Hakone Marathon Relay Race" commissioned for the 60th marathon relay race in 1984, and the Hakone Marathon Relay Race Monument of Glory, erected in 1994 on the occasion of the 70th marathon relay race. These monuments are located next to the Marathon Museum. |
